Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A pedestrian was injured in Mt. Juliet after stumbling into traffic and being struck by a pick-up truck. Officers were summoned to Lebanon Road, near Matterhorn Drive, to investigate a pedestrian being struck by a pick-up truck around 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16.
The investigating officer’s initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian, a 52-year-old man from Nashville, was walking in the lane of travel at the time he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck, driven by a 64-year-old man from Old Hickory. While officers were speaking to the pedestrian, it was obvious that he was intoxicated. The pedestrian was also wearing dark clothing and carrying a 6-pack of beer during impact.
In brief moments prior to impact, the pick-up driver saw the pedestrian and attempted to avoid the collision. Thankfully there were no serious injuries, and the 52-year-old pedestrian was transported to Summitt Medical Center’s emergency room with non life-threatening injuries.
During the crash investigation, the westbound lanes of Lebanon Road were closed approximately 30 minutes.
