Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A Mt. Juliet Police Officer made a quick apprehension after a man attempted to smash his way into a closed market with a rock. Around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, officers were summoned to the Shell Corner Market at 20 Benders Ferry Road after a nearby resident heard a loud audible alarm sounding.
Upon arrival, an officer noticed a suspicious man near the market, and noticed he had just attempted a break-in. He was identified as Chadrick Martin, 31, of Nashville. Video surveillance captured Martin looking into one of the surveillance cameras and adjusting it. The cameras then captured Martin throwing a rock at the window, sitting down in a chair adjacent to the business, and appearing to wait for police arrival.

While officers were investigating the market break-in, Martin confessed to attempting a break-in at First Freedom Bank, located at 12888 Lebanon Road, just moments prior to busting the window out at the Shell Corner Market. Martin attempted to enter the bank by also throwing a rock through the window. Both attempted burglaries were unsuccessful, and no property was taken. However, damage was sustained to the market and bank windows.
Martin was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with two counts of Burglary – Criminal Attempt. He is set to appear in court on January, 28 2015 under a $10,000.00 bond.
