Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A man wanted for sex crimes out of Kentucky is in-custody after he resisted and ran from officers on a traffic stop. This evening, around 6:00 p.m., an officer stopped a Nissan Altima for a traffic violation in the area of Adams Lane and S. Mt. Juliet Road. While the officer was investigating, a handgun was discovered under the driver’s seat. Simultaneously, the communications center was advising the officer that the driver had possible warrants out of Kentucky for Statutory Rape, Sodomy, and Burglary. When the officer attempted to detain the driver, identified as Graylin Waters, Jr., of Smyrna, he resisted and ran.
Officers gave chase and pursued Waters for some distance through a wooded area near the traffic stop. Multiple officers quickly saturated the area and established a containment perimeter to successfully apprehend Waters, who was quickly captured. During the incident a taser was deployed.
Waters was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with:
- Fugitive from Justice
- Resisting Arrest
- Evading Arrest
- Driving Without a License
Waters will be held until he is extradited back to Kentucky on charges of Statutory Rape – 3rd Degree, Sodomy – 3rd Degree, and Burglary – 2nd Degree.
