Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Five Mt. Juliet police officers graduated from the 12-week Basic Police School at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) in Nashville last Friday, and the department is proud of their achievement. Two received two of the four available academy awards, and one served as the Class President.

Mt. Juliet’s newest police officers Justin Angle, Chad Cagle, Austyn Dyer, Joshua Lo, and Douglas Troutman, along with over 80 other law enforcement officers across the state of Tennessee, took part in a graduation ceremony for Basic Police School 1816 on Friday, March 31, 2017. Officer Troutman was elected as the Class President and received the Legal Award. Officer Dyer received the Top Gun Award.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Officer Angle served as a police dispatcher and is a Volunteer State Community College graduate. Officer Cagle continues to serve in the U.S. Army and is an American Military University graduate. Officer Dyer is a former Mt. Juliet Police student intern, and Officer Lo is a former employee with the City of Mt. Juliet Parks Department. Officer Troutman is a former Mt. Juliet Police reserve police officer and is a graduate from Oklahoma State University.

“While at the police academy, our officers excelled and represented our department well, with two earning top awards,” stated Police Chief James Hambrick. “On behalf of the entire Mt. Juliet Police family, we are very proud of their achievements. They will all be great servants to our community.”
TLETA provides the technical and tactical training as well as the ethical and professional standards for law enforcement that are necessary for success.
“Pursuing a career in law enforcement takes dedication and commitment to serving others,” said TLETA Director Brian Grisham. “I congratulate the students of Basic Police School Class 1816 for their hard work and wish them well as they serve and protect Tennessee communities.”
