Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A man, wanted out of Nashville on multiple charges, was apprehended after he shoplifted, resisted, and attempted to evade arrest. On Friday, June 30, 2017 around 4:14 p.m., officers were summoned to Walmart, located at 300 Pleasant Grove Road, in regards to a shoplifting in-progress. An officer arrived on the scene, watched live surveillance video, and witnessed 45-year-old Jimmie Watson, Jr., of Nashville, concealing merchandise on his body.
As Watson was exiting the store, the officer attempted to stop him. However, Watson wanted to take his chances on evading. The officer gave chase and caught up to Watson as a citizen knocked Watson to the ground. Watson continued to resist the officer, who eventually deployed a Taser to subdue him. Further investigation revealed Watson was in possession of an illegal drug and wanted out of Metro-Nashville on multiple charges. No one was injured during the incident.
Watson was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Theft of Merchandise, Criminal Trespass, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, and Simple Possession of a Schedule 4 drug.
