Habitual Offender Arrested for DUI Following Crash on I-40

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – After rear-ending a large truck travelling down Interstate 40 and flipping his SUV, a man was arrested for DUI and other charges. On Tuesday, August 15, 2017 around 3:15 p.m., emergency responders were summoned to Interstate 40 East near the 225 mile-marker after a report of a flipped SUV. Officers arrived to find that a small SUV, operated by 52-year-old Virgil Tidwell of Gallatin, was upside down. Tidwell was already out of the vehicle.

Tidwell exhibited signs of impairment, and officers determined he was impaired at the time of the crash. No one was seriously injured nor required medical transport as a result of the crash.

Tidwell was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Driving Under the Influence, Habitual Offender, and Driving on a Revoked Drivers License.
