Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Police officers were summoned to a gymnastics business in the 5000 block of Market Place to investigate a vehicle burglary back on January 12, 2016. During the burglary, the thief busted a window and stole a purse that was left in plain view on the front seat. The burglary occurred within a 5 minute time-frame that the victim was away from her vehicle that Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m. It was likely that the thief specifically targeted the location because it is common for purses to be left in a vehicle when parents quickly go inside to pick-up their children.
Credit cards, from the victim’s stolen purse, were quickly used at locations in Nashville prior to the victim cancelling the cards.
Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance that recorded the burglary suspect using the victim’s credit card. The suspect is described as a stocky adult black male that is approximately 6′-6’2″ in height. At the time of the recording, he was wearing a grey beanie-cap, grey shirt, dark zip-up jacket, and dark pants.
Many times, vehicle burglary is a crime of opportunity that can prevented if there is no opportunity for the thief to steal. Mt. Juliet Police encourage everyone, in all circumstances, to never leave items of value in plain view or their vehicle unlocked.
