Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Yesterday afternoon, three suspects were arrested at Best Buy after their failed attempt to bypass the anti-theft devices by wrapping stolen merchandise in aluminum foil. Mt. Juliet Police officers were summoned to Best Buy around 3:00 p.m. after loss prevention noticed suspects inside the store concealing a cell phone and set of Bose headphones. As the suspects attempted to leave Best Buy, they were stopped by loss prevention staff and nearby police officers. Officers discovered the stolen merchandise wrapped in aluminum foil, which the suspects attempted to use to bypass the anti-theft devices.
Michael Binkley, 48, of Nashville, Amanda Jett, 18, of Hermitage, and Stephen Sandlin, 29, of Madison, were all arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail under a $4,000 bond. They were charged with Theft of Merchandise and Possession of Tools to Interfere with Anti-theft Security Devices. All are set to appear in court on June 10, 2014.
