Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A Mt. Juliet Police Officer responded to Interstate 40 Eastbound around the 229 MM at 12:18 p.m. to assist a Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper with a feathery situation. A mother duck and 5 of her ducklings were stuck on the inside wall, and they needed to cross traffic to get to a nearby pond. So, the officers safely closed the travel lanes of Interstate 40, and the family of ducks walked across the roadway to the pond. The roadway was closed for approximately 3 minutes. Passing motorists, who witnessed the kind rescue, cheered and praised the officers for assisting the feathered family to safety so they did not have to duck in and out of traffic. Video of the incident was captured on the police vehicle’s dash-cam.
