Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Police continue to build trust with the community, one cup at a time, 1-year after the first Mt. Juliet Police Coffee With a Cop began at Chick-fil-A in Providence MarketPlace.

“Coffee With a Cop continues to be really successful because the community continues to come out and join us,” said Police Chief James Hambrick. “It is about conversing with people and not waiting for them to call us in an emergency. I really look forward to each Coffee With a Cop.”

Mt. Juliet Police will be celebrating their 1-year Anniversary Coffee With a Cop at Chick-fil-A in Providence MarketPlace, where it all began, this Friday (6/20/14) from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Chick-fil-A is sponsoring free meal cards for the first 25 attendees of Friday’s Coffee With a Cop, and coffee is always free to inside visitors. In addition, Cow will be dressing up for the special 1-year celebration- so bring the kids out, too.

“At each Coffee With a Cop, I get to meet new faces and have great conversation,” said Police Captain Michael Mullins. “We have all types of conversations, too. It’s not just about our police-work.”

The Coffee With a Cop program is a non-traditional way to generate conversation between the police department and community it serves. This event allows the public to interact with police officers, including top Department leadership, in an informal setting to ask questions or address concerns. Mt. Juliet Police continue to receive requests to host a lunch or evening Coffee With a Cop, and they plan to fulfill those requests in their 2nd year of the program.
