Investigators Make Arrests in Burglary Caught On Camera; Suspect Tracked Down Through Facebook

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Investigators tracked down the persons responsible for burglarizing an open garage and unlocked car after receiving anonymous tips and finding one suspect’s whereabouts using Facebook. Steven E. Mundy, 46, of White House, and Sandra G. Clubbs, 22, of Mt. Juliet, were arrested and charged in connection with the burglary of an open garage and unlocked car that occurred on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the 200 block of Larson Drive. A $300.00 GPS unit was stolen during the burglary.

Mundy was identified as the suspect after video surveillance was released of him committing the burglary. Approximately five anonymous callers notified investigators via Mt. Juliet Police Department’s anonymous tip line with information about Mundy. Investigators determined that Mundy was staying at a family member’s house in the Mt. Juliet area, but they did not know his exact location. After reviewing Mundy’s Facebook, investigators found a Mt. Juliet resident. Mundy was found at his Facebook friend’s home located in the 700 block of Stonegate Drive.

Further investigation revealed that Mundy was assisted in the burglary by Clubbs, who drove Mundy’s getaway car, witnessed him commit the burglary, and had control over the GPS that was stolen. She was located at her residence in the 200 block of West Division Street.

“We are thankful for the strong partnerships that we have with our community and humbled by the willingness of citizens in helping us identify the suspect in this case,” said Chief James Hambrick. “Social media is also a great tool for department interaction with the community, and in this case, it helped us track down the suspect’s whereabouts.”

Mundy was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Aggravated Burglary, Car Burglary, and Theft of Property. He is set to appear in court on February 26, 2015 under a $38,000.00 bond.
