Officers Apprehend Wallet Thief in Stolen Vehicle

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A suspected wallet thief was apprehended by officers this afternoon in a stolen car after she was recognized by store staff as being the suspect from a previous theft. Around 2:22 p.m. today, officers were summoned to American Jewelry, located at 401 S. Mt. Juliet Road, after store staff recognized a suspected thief that stole a woman’s wallet from inside the jewelry store on Saturday, April 302016.  Responding officers apprehended the suspect inside the store after watching her exit a stolen Toyota Corolla in the parking lot.

Further investigation revealed the female suspect, identified as Julia Phillips, 27, of Nashville, entered American Jewelry in an attempt to receive cash for diamonds. Staff at the store recognized Phillips as a suspect that stole a woman’s wallet from behind the counter and called police to report that she was back. Phillips was spotted by a responding officer in the parking lot, and after running the car’s registration information, the officer was alerted that it was stolen from Metro-Nashville on April 28, 2016.

Phillips was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Theft of Property Under $500.00, Possession of Stolen Property Under $10,000.00, and Driving on a Revoked Drivers License.
