Man Missing After Truck Found Abandoned, Running in Tree Line off Interstate 40

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Detectives are concerned about the whereabouts of a missing 61-year-old man, and police are hoping to find him safe. On Tuesday, May 10, 2016 around 10:35 a.m., officers responded to a reported car crash on Interstate 40 eastbound near the 224 mile-marker, after it was reported a truck had run off into the woods. Officers arrived to find the truck running, driver door open, but no one around the truck.

The registered owner of the truck is Charles Howell Brooks, 61, of Nashville, and he was nowhere to be found. Officers searched the surrounding wooded area, contacted friends and family, and he still could not be located. Detectives did develop information that Brooks was last seen on May 8, 2016 around 7:00 p.m. There is also evidence to place him on Charlotte Pike in Nashville at the Walmart around 10:30 p.m. on May 9, 2016, where he purchased prepaid phone cards.
