Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – The barricaded subject incident on Chatsworth Drive, in the Townhomes of Hickory Hills, has ended peacefully. Around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, an officer attempted to stop a man, known to have an active warrant for his arrest, when he came outside of the home in the 1000 block of Chatsworth Drive. The man did not stop for the officer, ran into the home, and barricaded himself inside.
Mt. Juliet’s Crisis Negotiators and Special Response Team responded to the scene in an effort to resolve the situation. During the event, it was determined that an adult female was willingly inside the home with the wanted man, and she came out of the home at the request of a crisis negotiator.
Crisis Negotiators continued communications with the wanted man, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Phelps of Nashville, for an extended period of time in an effort to get him to surrender. During the event, the Special Response Team deployed a gas irritant, similar to pepper spray, into the home. The wanted man peacefully surrendered to officers, and the scene was cleared around 3:30 a.m. this morning.
Officers located around 16 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in possession of Phelps. He was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sale.

Adjacent neighbors were aware of the situation as a safety precaution, and no one was harmed during this incident.
