Unknown Callers Phone in a Prank Bomb Threat to Walmart

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – An unknown group of individuals, to what appears to be young teenagers, phoned in a prank bomb threat to Walmart, located at 300 Pleasant Grove Road. On Friday, April 14, 2017 around 9:50 p.m., Mt. Juliet’s Police & Fire Communications Center was notified by Walmart management in reference to a bomb threat that was phoned in. Immediately, police and fire units responded to the scene to secure the area and ensure a safe evacuation.

Further investigation revealed that a group of unknown individuals, described to police as young teenagers, phoned in a threat to the store about an explosive. During the single call, there were multiple individuals heard in the background laughing and making odd comments. Based off the context of the call and other information gained from the initial investigation, all indications lead to the threat as being a prank.

Regardless, calling in a prank bomb threat is a very serious crime with strong consequences. Detectives will continue to follow leads and track down those responsible for this crime.

This is the fourth false bomb threat at Walmart since its existence in Mt. Juliet.
