Wanted Man Apprehended After Spraying Pepper Spray While Shoplifting TVs

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A wanted man was apprehended by undercover detectives after he sprayed pepper spray towards store employees while shoplifting three televisions. On Tuesday, July 18, 2017 around 5:00 p.m., officers were summoned to Walmart in regards to a shoplifting that had just occurred where the suspect sprayed pepper spray while fleeing the store. The suspect’s vehicle description was relayed to area officers, and two undercover detectives spotted the suspect vehicle exiting Interstate 40 in Hermitage. The suspect, 38-year-old David Reagan of Orlinda, was then apprehended after a traffic stop.

Further investigation revealed that Reagan was stopped by Walmart employees after he pushed a cart of three televisions past the registers and almost out the front door. While he was stopped, he pulled out pepper spray and sprayed it towards the employees, striking one. Reagan fled the store without the televisions. The employee was not seriously injured.

Reagan was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. Charged with Theft of Merchandise (Over $1,000) and Assault. He remains in jail on a $25,000 bond. Reagan was also found to be wanted out of Metro-Nashville for multiple other crimes.
