Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Officers apprehended an armed, impaired, and wanted convicted felon after he struck a female’s face multiple times. On Monday, September 4, 2017 around 9:30 p.m., an officer pumping gas at Mapco was flagged down about an active assault taking place at the nearby Waffle House parking lot, located at 326 S. Mt. Juliet Road.
Bystanders reported to the officer that they witnessed a female being assaulted in a car, and the officer relayed the car’s description to other responding officers. A responding sergeant spotted the car as it turned onto Mt. Juliet Road, and attempted to stop it. However, the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Antawan Fizer of Hermitage, decided to flee the sergeant. Fizer was pursued until Old Hickory Boulevard near Interstate 40, where he abruptly stopped and ran away from the car. The sergeant gave chase, ultimately deploying a Taser to take control of Fizer, who continued to resist. During the struggle, Fizer attempted to discard illegal drugs and a handgun fell out of his waistband. Fizer exhibited signs of impairment as well.
Further investigation confirmed that Fizer assaulted a 31-year-old female passenger, who was transported to the hospital for her injuries. An active Order of Protection was in place to keep Fizer away from the victim. He was also in possession of multiple illegal drugs and paraphernalia, which are believed to be marijuana, heroin, crack cocaine, and many pills. Fizer is a convicted felon, with previous felony convictions of aggravated burglary and drug possession, and he has a revoked driver’s license for driving under the influence. There was an active Domestic Assault warrant for his arrest out of Nashville.

Fizer was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with Domestic Assault, Felony Evading, Misdemeanor Evading, Resisting Arrest, Driving on a Revoked Drivers License, Driving Under the Influence – 2nd Offense, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession of Schedule 1, 2, 3, 4, & 6 drugs, Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Violation of an Order of Protection. Fizer remains in jail under a $50,000 bond.
