Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Kyle Shaw, a student at Wilson Central High School, was presented with an Exceptional Citizen Award at his high school’s pep rally today. On August 9, 2017, Kyle stopped an emotionally distressed man from jumping off the Central Pike overpass onto Interstate 40. The man had already committed to the other side of the guardrail. Kyle, passing in his car, saw the man and immediately pulled him back to safety.
From the man’s statements, Kyle prevented him from jumping- saving his life. Kyle was honored for his actions today in front of the Wilson Central High School student body. His family was in attendance.
“No matter how young or old you are, anyone can do exceptional things in life,” stated Chief James Hambrick. “Kyle is a prime example of just that, and he should be commended for his exceptional actions.”
