Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – MJPD is proud to announce that three dedicated officers have successfully completed the Mt. Juliet Fire Department’s in-house Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program alongside ten Mt. Juliet firefighters. After 12 weeks and over 200 hours of instruction, along with 96 hours of in-the-field clinical experience, Sergeant Chris Barth, K9 Officer Jordan Brown, and Officer Jacob Berti have become the first police officers to establish the department’s Emergency Medical Response Team. Notably, Officer Berti achieved the top average score in the class and was named Valedictorian.
Mt. Juliet is one of only ten cities in Tennessee with its own Emergency Medical Service, allowing our police department direct access to top-notch training resources and medical protocols from the Mt. Juliet Fire Department. While this training does not alter the officers’ daily duties, it significantly enhances our city’s emergency response capabilities by adding more medically trained personnel throughout the community. Additionally, all three officers serve on the department’s Special Response Team, further boosting the team’s effectiveness with their new medical skills.
