Officer Spots Shoplifting Suspects After They Fled from Walmart

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Two shoplifting suspects are in-custody after attempting to return stolen items from Walmart. Around 11:45 a.m. today, two suspects attempted to return around $145.00 in stolen merchandise, but they ran away with the stolen items as loss prevention staff approached. A detailed suspect vehicle description was provided to officers, who spotted and stopped the suspects on Interstate 40 east.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects used a tool to remove the theft detection devices from speakers inside Walmart. The suspects then took the stolen items to customer service in an attempt to return them as if they were actually purchased.

During the vehicle stop, officers identified the suspects as Alex Sparrow, 29, and Bridget Sparrow, 25, of Brentwood. The tool that was used to remove the theft detection devices and stolen merchandise was located inside the car. In addition, officers located a hypodermic needle and glass pipe. Alex Sparrow’s drivers license was revoked, and he resisted officers during his arrest.

Alex and Bridget Sparrow were arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. Alex was charged with Theft of Merchandise, Possession of Tools to Interfere with Theft Protection Devices, Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Revoked, and Resisting Arrest. Bridget was charged with Theft of Merchandise and Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.
