Early Morning Report of Robbery to Waffle House Employee Deemed False

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Investigators have determined that an armed robbery reported early this morning by a Waffle House employee was false. As a result, investigators will seek a criminal indictment for filing a false police report on the complainant.

Early this morning, on Thursday, November 17, 2015 around 5:25 a.m., officers were summoned to Waffle House, located at 236 S. Mt. Juliet Road, because a 39-year-old male complainant stated he was robbed of $120.00 by an armed suspect while taking trash to the dumpster . Unaware that the complainant was not being truthful, officers conducted an extensive search of the area near Waffle House while looking for the apparent suspect.

Investigators with Mt. Juliet’s Criminal Investigative Division looked further into the incident, and it was apparent that the facts and evidence did not corroborate. The complainant confessed that a robbery did not occur, and that he made it up.
