Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A man was stopped from jumping off the Mt. Juliet Road overpass onto the interstate by a citizen. Around 5:20 p.m this evening, officers responded to the overpass after it was reported that a man was attempting to jump. Officers arrived to find a citizen holding down a 52-year-old white male.
Further investigation and multiple witness statements revealed that the man had a leg over the overpass barrier. A citizen then grabbed the man from the ledge and held him down until police arrived. Medics transported the man to the hospital to receive proper care.
The department is thankful for the many citizens that assisted in this incident.
