Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A man is in-custody after pulling a handgun on detectives, who were travelling down Interstate 40 East and transporting a wanted subject to jail. Around 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, three detectives were transporting a wanted subject to jail in an undercover truck, along Interstate 40 East near the 236 mile-marker, when a random motorist brandished a handgun in a threatening manner at the four occupants in the undercover truck.
For a reason not apparent to the detectives, the motorist apparently became angry and decided to pull the handgun. Once that occurred, a traffic stop was conducted on the motorist, who was identified as Rafael Luis Molina, 58, of Lebanon. Molina was found to be in possession of two handguns. In addition, the incident occurred in Lebanon Police Department’s jurisdiction, and two of their officers responded to provide assistance to the Mt. Juliet detectives.
Molina was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail under a $10,000.00 bond, charged with 4 counts of Aggravated Assault
