Nashville, Tenn. – A Mt. Juliet Police Detective was honored by the United States Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney David Rivera at a ceremony today in Nashville. Detective Frank DeRiggi was among 40 individuals who received a United States Attorney Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement.
The award is the result of a federal case investigated by DeRiggi in 2015. DeRiggi was the lead detective on a case where two criminal organizations were trafficking drugs in Middle Tennessee involving clandestine anabolic steroids and heroin. Due to DeRiggi’s efforts, those organizations were dismantled, and the leaders were arrested and sentenced. Ultimately, at the conclusion of the investigation, 19 individuals were arrested and a large amounts U.S. currency, steroids, pills, and heroin was seized.
“Det. DeRiggi exemplifies the mission and vision of this police department,” said Chief James Hambrick. “Our staff is very dedicated and hard-working. I am very proud of him.”
