Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – A vehicle stolen in Nashville was recovered in Mt. Juliet within hours of being reported stolen after a #MJGuardianShield license plate reader alert helped Mt. Juliet Police officers quickly locate the vehicle and apprehend the driver.
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen in Nashville around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Later that evening, as the vehicle entered Mt. Juliet from Interstate 40 onto Golden Bear Gateway, a Guardian Shield license plate reader alerted officers to its presence.
Officers immediately responded to the area and began searching for the vehicle. A short time later, an officer spotted the stolen Hyundai traveling through the Amazon warehouse parking lot on Golden Bear Gateway.
Officers quickly contained the vehicle and safely apprehended the driver, identified as a 30-year-old Nashville man, without incident.
For the victim, the recovery means a vehicle stolen only hours earlier can now be returned.
Criminal activity does not stop at city limits. Someone who commits a crime in one community can be in another within minutes. This incident demonstrates why proactive policing, responsible use of technology guided by strict policy, and strong partnerships across jurisdictional lines remain important to protecting Mt. The recovery comes as Mt. Juliet continues to experience historically low crime. In 2025, the city recorded its lowest crime rate in modern reporting history.
