Mt. Juliet, Tenn. — Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, Mt. Juliet Police officers responded to an altercation isolated to a home in the 600 block of Meadowview Drive. During the altercation, an adult man fired a handgun in the presence of two adult women.
Both women were able to safely exit the residence before officers arrived, leaving the man alone inside. Officers secured the area and ensured nearby residents were safe while crisis intervention personnel and mental health resources worked throughout the night in continued efforts to communicate with the man and bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.
Felony warrants for Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon had been obtained for the man in connection with the original altercation and the discharge of the firearm.
Just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, officers, who were outside the home, heard a gunshot from inside the residence. The man was subsequently located deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident remained isolated to the involved residence throughout the response, and there was no immediate threat to the surrounding community.
